Hot Springs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Lover&#8217;s Leap is a popular overlook of the French Broad River and the town of Hot Springs, North Carolina.\u00a0\u00a0 It&#8217;s a fairly short hike up from the parking area just above the Hot Springs bridge.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_171\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-171\" style=\"width: 392px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-171\" title=\"hot_springs\" src=\"http:\/\/mrfs.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/hot_springs.jpg\" alt=\"Hot Springs from the A.T.\" width=\"392\" height=\"288\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mrfs.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/hot_springs.jpg 392w, https:\/\/mrfs.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/hot_springs-300x220.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 392px) 100vw, 392px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-171\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hot Springs from the A.T.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This is the view about halfway up which also happens to be the Appalachian Trail through here.\u00a0\u00a0 The rocks themselves are located at a trail junction and are named (supposedly) after a Cherokee legend.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_172\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-172\" style=\"width: 388px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-172\" title=\"lovers_leap_rock\" src=\"http:\/\/mrfs.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/lovers_leap_rock.jpg\" alt=\"Lovers Leap Rock\" width=\"388\" height=\"291\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mrfs.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/lovers_leap_rock.jpg 388w, https:\/\/mrfs.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/lovers_leap_rock-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 388px) 100vw, 388px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-172\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lovers Leap Rock<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>If you&#8217;ve been hiking southbound on the A.T.\u00a0 this would be a sudden and dramatic viewpoint.\u00a0\u00a0 If you&#8217;ve come up from Hot Springs though it&#8217;s just a slightly clearer view of what you&#8217;ve been looking at for the last half hour.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 From here, we continued on the Applachian Trail which wraps around the ridge to Pump Gap.\u00a0\u00a0 About a half mile or so from Lovers Leap there are good views up the French Broad River.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_173\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-173\" style=\"width: 392px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-173\" title=\"frank_bell\" src=\"http:\/\/mrfs.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/frank_bell.jpg\" alt=\"Frank Bell's Rapid\" width=\"392\" height=\"378\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mrfs.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/frank_bell.jpg 392w, https:\/\/mrfs.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/05\/frank_bell-300x289.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 392px) 100vw, 392px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-173\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Frank Bell&#39;s Rapid<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Frank Bell&#8217;s rapid &#8211;
