{"id":81,"date":"2008-05-03T12:09:32","date_gmt":"2008-05-03T17:09:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mrfs.net\/blog\/?p=81"},"modified":"2008-05-12T12:18:04","modified_gmt":"2008-05-12T17:18:04","slug":"huntsville-alabama","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/mrfs.net\/blog\/?p=81","title":{"rendered":"Huntsville, Alabama"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Huntsville isn&#8217;t really a daytrip from Asheville but it&#8217;s an easy weekend trip.\u00a0\u00a0 Our primary reason for going was the Whistle Stop Barbeque Competition where we happened to be judging the KCBS event.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mrfs.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/05\/huntsville_depot.jpg\" title=\"Huntsville Depot\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mrfs.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/05\/huntsville_depot.jpg\" alt=\"Huntsville Depot\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This picture is the historic Huntsville Depot where the judging was based.\u00a0 As BBQ festivals go, this one had a very nice atmosphere with a well-attended amateur division and a busy entertainment schedule.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mrfs.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/05\/huntsville.jpg\" title=\"Huntsville\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/mrfs.net\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/05\/huntsville.jpg\" alt=\"Huntsville\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After the BBQ festival we went up to Monte Sano State Park which overlooks Huntsville and has some nice hiking trails.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It&#8217;s a semi-urban setting for a state park, but if you&#8217;ve just eaten a pound or so of smoked meat it&#8217;s a good place to burn some of it off.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Huntsville isn&#8217;t really a daytrip from Asheville but it&#8217;s an easy weekend trip.\u00a0\u00a0 Our primary reason for going was the Whistle Stop Barbeque Competition where we happened to be judging the KCBS event.
